Design and Implementation of a Piano Practice Support System using a Real-Time Fingering Recognition Technique

چکیده
Piano players need to learn various techniques such as correct keying and fingering. However, the lighted keyboards, which light up the key and are the most commonly used piano learning supports, have several problems for learners, such as difficulty in understanding the presented fingering information and flow of keying positions, and lack of a fingering check function. To resolve these problems, the goal of our study is to construct a piano practice support system that has a fingering check function using a real-time fingering recognition technique. We discuss the presentation methods that can effectively indicate pianolearning information such as fingering and keying information. We evaluated a prototype system that was actually used by learners, and found that it had significant advantages over lighted keyboards.

Real Time Implementation of a License Plate Location Recognition System Based on Adaptive Morphology
License plate recognition (LPR) by using morphology has the advantage of resistance to brightness changes; high speed processing, and low complexity. However these approaches are sensitive to the distance of the plate from the camera and imaging angle. Various assumptions reported in other works might be unrealistic and cause major problems in practical experiences. In this paper we considered ...

In this paper the need for employing a data reduction algorithm in using digital graphic systems to display biomedical signals is firstly addressed and then, some such algorithms are compared from different points of view (such as complexity, real time feasibility, etc.). Subsequently, it is concluded that Turning Point algorithm can be a suitable one for real time implementation on a microproc...
متن کاملAutomatic Decision of Piano Fingering Based on a Hidden Markov Models
This paper proposes a Hidden Markov Model (HMM)-based algorithm for automatic decision of piano fingering. We represent the positions and forms of hands and fingers as HMM states and model the resulted sequence of performed notes as emissions associated with HMM transitions. Optimal fingering decision is thus formulated as Viterbi search to find the most likely sequence of state transitions. Th...
متن کاملTactile Teacher: Toward Sensing Taps When Playing Piano
In a piano lesson, a student often imitates how her teacher is playing in terms of speed, dynamics, and fingering. We seek to convey the touch sensations in piano lessons between a teacher and a student by sensing the teacher's keystrokes and then tapping the student's fingers appropriately. Here, we propose an implementation to sense finger taps on hard surfaces by using an instrumented glove....
